Death Magnetic es el noveno álbum de estudio de la banda de Thrash Metal Metallica, que saldrá a la venta el dia 12 de septiembre de 2008 y significará, según declaraciones de los miembros del grupo, una vuelta a las raíces musicales del cuarteto californiano.

La banda comenzó a grabarlo el 14 de Marzo de 2007 y su lanzamiento oficial es el 12 de Septiembre de 2008. Este álbum será producido por Rick Rubin, el productor de Linkin Park, Red Hot Chili Peppers, System of a Down, Slayer, entre otros. Además, la discográfica productora del álbum será Warner Bros Records.

Robert Trujillo, actual bajista de la banda, indicó que las 2 canciones estrenadas en el tour Sick Of The Studio 2006, "The New Song" (también llamada Death Is Not The End), estrenada el 6 de Junio de 2006 en Berlín, Alemania y "The Other New Song" (también llamada Vulturous), estrenada el 12 de Agosto de 2006 en Seúl, Corea del Sur no forman parte del nuevo álbum en su plenitud, y que solo porciones de estas podrían quedar en el álbum. Según Kirk Hammett, el grupo ya ha escrito cerca de 15 canciones para el nuevo álbum. Ellos lo definen como el mejor disco de Metallica desde el Black Album de 1991.ya que el nuevo disco marcará un regreso al sonido de los '80. El sonido de este Album, esta situado entre el Speed Metal y el Heavy Metal con toques de Thrash Metal, el sonido del álbum esta situado entre el ...And Justice For All, Master Of Puppets y lo melódico de el Black Album.

Discografia: Metallica

Metallica es una banda de thrash metal y heavy metal originaria de Estados Unidos. Fue fundada en 1981 en Los Ángeles por el danés Lars Ulrich y James Hetfield, a los que se les unirían Lloyd Grant y Ron McGovney. Estos dos músicos fueron después sustituidos por el guitarrista Dave Mustaine y el bajista Cliff Burton, respectivamente. Mustaine fue despedido un año después de ingresar en la banda debido a su excesiva adicción a las drogas y al alcohol, y fundó la banda Megadeth, siendo sustituido en Metallica por Kirk Hammett. Por otra parte, en 1986, la muerte de Cliff Burton en un accidente de autobús en Suecia provocó la entrada al grupo de Jason Newsted, que quince años más tarde, sería sustituido tras su deserción por el bajista actual de la banda, Robert Trujillo.
